Our Story

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Deseyah Candle Co. was born from a deep desire to authentically represent Charleston culture, creating something that feels true to our roots. In today’s world, culture can sometimes be commercialized or presented in ways that lose its essence. I wanted to create something that honored the culture, not took away from it.

Candles gave me the flexibility to do that.

Through fragrance, storytelling, visuals, and design, I was able to infuse every collection with pieces of the Lowcountry, Gullah Geechee traditions, and everyday Charleston life. From the sweetgrass inspiration to the names, textures, and mood behind each candle, Deseyah became more than just a product; it became a reflection of home.

Even the name itself carries meaning.

“Deseyah” is rooted in the way we speak within the culture. At first glance, some people may not catch it immediately because they naturally read it through standard English pronunciation. But once you understand that in our dialect the “TH” sound is often softened or removed, it begins to make sense. “Deseyah” reflects the rhythm, sound, and identity of the culture in a subtle way that feels natural to us.

That intentionality is at the heart of the brand.

Deseyah Candle Co. was built to create luxury products that still feel grounded in heritage, community, and storytelling. Every candle is designed to feel elevated while still honoring the people, traditions, craftsmanship, and quiet beauty that shaped us.

Deseyah Candle Vessel

This is the best candle I have ever used in my life, my current candle has been burning for 6 months. I have 2 cats and this candle is the only thing that masks the little pan smell. It’s like I don’t even own cats!

Deseyah Candle on Han'Post on Johns Island

I love my Deseyah Candles. It’s unique packed, long lasting and carries the scent throughout the house. Best part, there’s not a burn scent after you out the candle. I rate it a 10 out of a 10!
